Your Initial Consultation with Vonda Covington or Jamie Zand
The initial consultation is your opportunity to get to know Vonda Covington and Jamie Zand before you decide to retain them for your family law case. During the initial consultation, you’ll talk with Vonda or Jamie about the facts of your case, and they’ll ask you questions calculated to help us understand your situation and your goals. Typically, Vonda and Jamie are able to tell you during the initial consultation what your rights are and what options you have to protect your rights and to pursue your goals for your divorce and for your life after divorce.
The initial consultation is an important meeting in which you and Vonda Covington or Jamie Zand share information and begin to strategize the case. This meeting usually lasts one and a half to two hours.
If you’re thinking about your options in divorce, the initial consultation is an opportunity for you to gather information about what would likely happen with the facts of your situation under Texas law. With that information, you’ll be able to make better decisions for yourself and your family.
As a service to their clients, Vonda and Jamie only charge for one hour of time for the typical initial consultation, even if the consultation is longer than one hour. If the initial consultation is more than two hours, Vonda and Jamie charge their hourly rate for the time exceeding two hours, in addition to the one-hour fee for the first two hours.
Vonda Covington is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Fort Bend County Bar Association, and the Harris County Bar Association. She’s an advocate for alternative dispute resolution in family law matters and she’s the President of the Fort Bend Collaborative Professionals, the first Collaborative Divorce Law practice group in Fort Bend County. Vonda is also a member of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals.
Jamie Zand is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Fort Bend County Bar Association.
